Free advice on floor heater problems
Which costs more to heat with,electric baseboard or ceramic floor heater ? please read:?
I have baseboard heating installed in 1981 in my bedroom and I also have a portable ceramic heater, is there a great cost difference in running them? I have to choose and I am desperately trying to save money thanks both are electric, the portable one is a small fan blown plug in.
What is the safest/best way to clean my gas floor heater?
I live in an old apartment with this sub floor gas heater. Never seen this sort of thing before. Basically there are two floor vents, one on either side of the main wall, and up from that floor vent is another wall vent that has louvers of some sort can't find pics online to reference. sorry . When I moved in, the gas company had to come out and light the pilot. My kids, cats, general life, have ended up getting debris and fur and other small items thrown down in this vent. It's a couple of feet deep. I'm not sure if it's safe to put a vacuum cleaner hose down there to clean it out, but I worry about all that debris being a potential fire hazard. Does anyone know what the safest way is to clean this sort of heater? Thanks so much.

Can you replace cracked porcelain tiles without affecting the under floor heater and surrounding tiles?
I have dropped a number of heavy objects on our porcelain floor tiles since getting them done last year and now all the cracks have become more visible. My other half keeps telling me that it is impossible to replace them as this will affect our under floor heating and will have to replace the surrounding tiles as well and not just the cracked tiles can anyone please tell me if this is true. I would really like to get them replaced but don't really want to affect the under floor heating and the surrounding tiles as both will be quite pricey? Thanks.
I 'm on a slab and had water in floor heater vents. had drain tiles with a bubble installed.can bubble freeze?
I had no trouble with water until yesterday when it rained heavily and then froze. Can the bulle freeze which would then cause watet in seep into the heat vents?
My gas floor heater shuts off too fast- is it the thermostat?
It's an old floor heater and it will ignite and stay lit for a few minutes then it shuts off but the house is still cold... then I have to jiggle the line power line that goes to the thermostst to turn on again... any ideas??

I have a cozy floor heater. The pilot will stay lit but I cannot get the burners to turn on. So far I have replaced the thermostat w a newer one and also tried tying the wires together to get burners on. I have also replaced the powerpile generator. I've never had it working so dont know how long this was an issue. Any ideas that I can try or should I finally give up and try a professional?

I need to find someone to repair my old floor heater. It is in a 1920 year old house and the firebox is under the crawl space under the house. I have called several heating and repair and they wont touch it. .My landloard doesnt want to have a who new system put in eaither . There are no heating ducts eaither.Please can anyone help? I need a reputable person that can come out soon.
Floor heaters?
when i lived in louisiana, i used a gas floor heater that had like 6 ceramic plates in it. it was a standing unit, the dimensions are roughly 2 ft wide 8 inches front to back 18 inches tall. im trying to find one, and ebay wasnt help. can somebody help me in finding these?
Floor heater trouble?
My floor heater will not come on. It is getting gas and the pilot is lit. But I cant get the thing to kick on. I tried replacing the wall thermostat but am not sure what else I can do. FLOOR HEATER WON'T IGNITE?
Our floor heater won't ignite. Gas Co. was out and the pilot light is on, but looks a little weak to me. I used to able to see it flicker in the round window from above, but not now. We also installed a new thermostat and the heater worked fine for two days and now it won't ignite? Thanks.Yes, It is a milivolt system and I hope we can just increase the pilot a bit, propably like it was before. A friend turned it off to install a gas line and that's when all of the problems started. Is the pilot adjustable? Thanks
