Can I move an electric drier next to my gas water heater?
Can there be some kind of spark from the drier that is dangerous if there is a gas leak or not all the gas in combusted?

My tenant has called and said there is no hot water. The last tenant shut the switch off before they left I assume to save on utility bills and the new tenant just turned it back on. If the pilot was killed, I assume it would have to be started manually again?

and replaced the drain. Well, ever since, I've been having trouble keeping the burner on. The pilot comes on and so does the burner but then after about 30 60 minutes, the flame on the burner dies but the pilot light stays on. I've replaced the thermocouple, vacuumed out the inside after removing the burner and cleaned off the burner, but it still won't stay on. I hope I don't need to replace the gas control valve. Please help
Pilot light will not stay lit on gas water heater.?
We have replaced the thermocouple 2xs and the valve 2x's, incase something was defective equipment. When we release the pilot button the pilot light goes out immediately. Checked drip loop too. HELP I believe we may have discovered the problem. There appears to be a leak along the line running to the burner that we discovered by chance. While yet again trying to light the pilot, we were removing the match but it was still lit. Another small flame appeared along the line. Despite the flame being sold blue and touching the thermalcouple, perhaps it is still low in pressure and not enough to signal the thermalcouple to stay lit after releasing the pilot button.The water heater is only five years old and I refuse to believe that we need to purchase a new unit. We have returned the parts we did not end up using and I believe they probably do truly work. Is there something we could have done to identify this problem sooner? We of course have shut off the gas going to the unit. We have not purchased the replacement part yet but I am hopeful this will work I do have my fingers crossed, just in case

We just bought a house and I know that the thermostat should be set at 72 degrees but what about the water heater? A friend said to set it to the Max, but I am not sure. I don't want to scald our skin either

I need to change gas water heater and cannot afford the ones for manufactured homes. I was given one that is less than 6 months old. but it says not for use in manufactured homes. From what I have read it syas it can be used if you have an outside access door. my water heater is in a laundry room by the furnace in an inclosed area by the back door if that helps

should i go across to where there is a window which would be a good place for a wall vent. this is in the basement of a two story home so it would be expensive to go through the roof. there is a chimney about teh same distance as the window. Which should i do.

Gas water heater burner plate broke off during thermocouple replacement?
I was replacing a faulty thermocouple when applying force to remove the thermocouple from the housing the side plate do not know the proper name, see pictures snapped off. The burner is 6 years old and very rusty. From the looks of it, that part was welded on to the burner by four points.My question is, can I cold weld that part back on and continue to operate the gas water heater at high temperatures? I never had to cold weld something that will have to be used in high temperature and I have no means to weld it on properly. Perhaps soldering? Installing an Antique Gas Water Heater in a bathroom?
In my newly converted basement I've completed building the gym, and next to that I have nearly finished a bathroom in which I have installed an antique water heater. there was already a gas supply to the fireplace in the room above, which I have tee'd off and run into the bathroom . Its a Ewart & Son Royal Geyser. It heats the water to a high temperature, but the water does not come out smoothly. It flows somewhat roughly, in fits & starts. There is a kind of bubbling noise, and I'm told this is called kettling. How can I get this sorted?
Brand New Gas Water Heater is constantly "ON"?
Hi guys, I moved in to a new house and the water heater was leaking, I called AO Smith and they sent me a NEW Water Heater a FREE replacement for and old 9 Year OLD 50 Gallon, that I never paid for GREAT NEWS HUH? Well, I installed the new one myself. It was an exact match A real easy install I get GReat pressure and Temperature The problem is it that its always firing UP as soon as I wash my hands, it turns on and it stays on for a good 10 15 minutes It is killing my Gas bill first month was 300 bucks I wish I kept my old one that was the same brand with the same performance that fired up infrequently. Can anybody tell me what can be the problem? I have not called AO smith because they are gonna tell me that a Licensed plumber should have done the install I went to a plumbing Trade school and they never covered anything of this nature...Some details...1 I did not use the Draft Hood niether the old one 2 The " old" had 1 2 in adaptors soldered at the inlets I used 3 4 unions 3 The HOT and COLD are NOT reversed 4 I am NOT sure if the Diptube was installed at factory I did not see one in the box 5 No gas Leaks I hope 6 It shares the water supply with a NG Boiler7 No expansion Tank, I am considering adding one 8 Water coming into House is EXTREMELY COLD iam in NYC 9 Pressure Valve does NOT go off.Thanx guys Some additional details... answering u guys 1 I did not use the Draft Hood niether the old one flute also draws fresh air from Outside Hose Duct, the exhausts through Chimney Roof, along with Boiler Flute Should I attempt Draft Hood?? 2 The " old" had 1 2 in adaptors soldered at the inlets I used 3 4 unions, This might be TO MUCH WATER?? 3 The HOT and COLD are NOT reversed 4 I am NOT sure if the Diptube was installed at factory I did not see one in the box I hope it has one now?? 5 No gas Leaks I hope 6 It shares the water supply with a NG Boiler7 No expansion Tank, I am considering adding one 8 Water coming into House is EXTREMELY COLD iam in NYC 9 Pressure Valve does NOT go off.Thanx guys
