On my Whirlpool natural gas water heater...?
there is a single use gas shut off device. How do I know if it has already worked. Obviously there will be no gas. But visually how can you tell?

What is the best tankless natural gas water heater for my home? I want something I can run 2 showers at once.

Can a natural gas water heater crack, rust, or be damaged by wrapping insulation around it?
I was told by someone that the insulation around the water heater caused it to sweat and rust at the bottom. This is the reason why the water heater is leaking.Any information would be very grateful. I am having an arguement with the company who came and insulated my home. This company wrapped the water heater saying it would help. The water heater is about 13 years old and still looks brand new except for the rusting that is now on the bottom which wasn't there before the insulation. Thanks for any help The insulation has been on the water heater about 2 or 3 years.Who should I vote for? Everyone gave about the same answer that it needs to be replaced. So, I don't have an option to choose everyone as best answer. Good luck all in the voting

What is a safe and economical way to vent a natural gas water heater?
I am specifically interested in the material and what section of the hardware store to find it. Due to the variance in the dimensions between the new water heater and the old one, I can t use the old vent. I need a little more length. The vent is 3 inches in diameter. I need a one foot section and three foot section with a flexible elbow connecting the two. The previous vent was very thin sheet metal and it had surface rust on it. The elbow was a corrugated bendable piece. When I went to Lowes, they had vent pieces in the water heater section. But, by the time I bought everything, it would have been close to $50 The ventilation they had looked like a vent within a vent. Do most local codes require this type of venting or is there a more economical way to vent this using something similar to what was there before? Would metal corrugate venting like one used in a clothes dryer work? Safety is critical also. I know sometimes Lowe's sticks it to you with their kits.

Are natural gas water heaters more inefficient with age?
Somebody said a layer of oxide forms over the heater, thus the flame has to heat the oxide before getting to the water? My heater is 10 years old.

I want to install a tank-less natural gas water heater for my 2-1/2 bathroom home.?
My only concern is the venting system. I want to vent out of my chimney the same way my conventional water heater does. From what I understand, the unit has to have a dedicated vent and air intake. I am wondering why the unit cannot be vented out of the chimney with my furnace like my conventional water heater?

Can I operate my natural gas water heater with propane gas? will it work? is it safe?
I was unable to pay my pg& e bill and they shut off my gas. I'm not thinking of trying to use propane in place of natural gas for all of my gas appliances or anything. And I would only turn the propane on when I needed hot water for a shower or something and then I'd shut it off. It would only be occasionally if it is able to work.

Changing a natural gas water heater.?
I'm changing out my water heater and I'm fine with the water hook ups. Is there anything special I should know about the gas hook up? Will teflon tape work on the gas pipe connection to correct any leaks?

I bought natural gas water heater instead of propane what should i do now?
i had propane gas water heater i made a mistake i bought natural gas heater what shoul i do now

Is it normal for my natural gas water heater to be dripping water onto the plate that is lit?
I was lighting the water heater and it soon began to drip water onto the plate that is lit. it was a small drop that did not cause the flame flames to go out, but is this normal?

Natural gas water heater?
The little orange grommet on the burner access door on my gas water heater is broken. Is this piece important? Should I replace it? What will happen if I don't replace it?

What is the best (natural gas) water heater on the market for the price ($300-$500)?
I've had a Whirlpool Flamelock water heater that I've been fortunate to have gotten 6 years use from. I've heard that these are one of the worst water heaters anyone could buy so now it's time for me to venture into a bigger and better water heater that will LAST

Do Natural Gas Water Heaters Use Electricity?
Me and my girlfriend got into a little argument about whether gas water heaters use electricity. I think natural gas water heaters use a little electricity and my girlfriend thinks they don't. On our natural gas water heater there are little wires that lead to a turn able nob that can turn the water heater on and off. I think this is where the electricity is used and she thinks gas runs through them.

Bradford White, AO Smith or Kenmore Natural Gas Water Heaters?
I need natural gas water heater input. AO Smith, Kenmore or Bradford White? I had Whirlpool and it leaked after 2 1 2 years. I then had a Rheem put in, but I couldn't get any hot water. They came and picked up the Rheem this morning at 8 30 am. I just want a unit that will work and give us hot water when I need it for more than 1 to 2 showers. All of the local plumbers are saying they have much better luck with Bradfore White, and that Bradford White has a new ingition system by Honeywell that makes them even better. Plus, I read that Bradford White doesn't have to be drained each year. But, one thing puzzles me. The Bradford White site says the tank and parts are covered for 6 years, and the labor is covered for a year, but each of the contractors around here are telling me 6 years tank, 2 years parts and no labor. Why is that?I appreciate the input on the tankless systems, but that isn't possible in this home at the time.
