Is it possible for radiant heating (heated floors) pipes to burst through the floor?
We have radiant heating heated floors all throughout my house. We have laminate, ceramic, Mohtashem carpeting in one of the bathrooms, and marble flooring. My mother says that if I turn the heat up more than ten degrees at a time, that the pipes will break through the floor. I have laminate wood flooring in my room, and beside my bed I notice that there's a little upward bulge between a few lines. I've never noticed it before. Could this be from turning up the heating too fast?
What is the maximum floor thickness for wooden floors using radiant heating?
My home is currently being refurbished. It is an older home, about 70 years. I would like to install radiant heating between the floor joists, currently there are three layers of flooring 1 inch thick diagonal rough sawn planking 3 4 inch thick hardwood flooring 1 2 inch thick plywood subfloor. The home is 80 % gutted. Also there will be another finished floor going down what type? My question is this would my radiant heating be greatly improved by removing a layer or two of old flooring? Thank you for any advice you can give me.
Does retrofitted electric radiant heating installed below the sub-floor comply with the building code?
I have seen radiant heat systems that can be installed between the floor joists below the sub floor, rather than the conventional method of installing them prior to installing your tile flooring. I inquired with one of the " conventional method" suppliers as to the " retrofit ability" of their system and was told that it would not meet Code if installed in that manner. Thoughts? btw I'm in Ontario.
Anyone used/installed radiant heating in ceramic or porelain floor?

Trying to understand my radiant heat system?
I have an in floor radiant heat system using water that's heated by a tankless water heater. However, there is also a PEX line running from the top of my main hot water heater tank, which passes through a " Feed Water Pressure Regulator" with the arrow indicating the flow is toward the radiant system. This finally connects to the system just after the outlet from the tankless heater, after the circulator. Does anyone know what the purpose of this connection from the main household hot water tank would be?
How hot can I turn up the water heater for an infloor radiant heat system?
My return usually comes back a little on the cool side.
Using radiant heat for cooling, would this work?
I have radiant heating in my home, where the home heats through hot water from the boiler in my basement. I'm wondering what would happen if I turned my boiler off, filled it with cold water as would happen when all hot water runs out , and turned my heat on so cold water runs through the heating pipes and cools my house? Would that work? Has anyone tried it?
Is "Radiant floor heating" the same as "in floor radiant heat"?

Have an electrical question, please help! Radiant Heating?
We have radiant heating installed in our ceiling and the other day my husband went to turn off the thermostat and it smoked a little bit. It was later in the day we realized that the heat is still on. It is nearly 80 degrees in here without the windows open and the ceiling is warm even though the termostat appears off. We are not electrical people and in no way can afford an electrician's quote, let alone getting it fixed Anyone know what might have happend? Thanks
