Question: My igniter has good spark but there's no spark at the pilot light on my water heater, why?

The electrode next to the pilot may be dirty. While Carbon does conduct electricity it has a high resistance. Also the gap may be too large for the spark. But since you have to take out the whole assembly to get to it you might want to just replace the whole thing. They do sometimes get weaker with age. It would also be a good time to clean the air intake and replace the thermocouple.

Make sure it is properly grounded .( the sparker wire and housing ,it might help to give the sparker button a good knock and hit )
