We installed a whirlpool hot water heater last night, well the water wont heat we checked everthing.?

It's about 3 years old. The pilot just went out on its own. It relights and then I can turn the knob to " ON" and turn the thermostat to " HOT." The burner comes on, but when it goes off the pilot goes out again.
Has anyone had trouble with a Whirlpool hot water heater?
