You need to check and make sure the unit has 240 volts supplied to heater, the whirlpool doesn't have a control board it consist of an upper and lower 4500 watt-240 volt elements with a thermostat and a high limit- or red reset button just on the bottom of each stat, one for top element and one for bottom element . if you have the right voltage-and a line to each of the wires feeding the heater- on 240 volts the black is one 120 volt line if it has a red line that is the other 120 volt line making the 240 volts the white wire is the neut -or called a common, there should be a green wire it is a ground and should be fastened to a screw inside the box on the water heater some units have 1-black--it goes to a fuse 1 red --it goes to a fuse 1 white-- it goes to the neutral in fuse box 1 green--it goes from one screw head in fuse box to a screw head inside elect.box on heater Push both red buttons and with a screwdriver turn the stats up about 20 degrees each -if it comes on don't forget to turn them back down. |
